Michelle is an evolutionary biologist who uses a variety of molecular techniques to investigate seagrasses. Thus, Michelle has had direct personal and professional experiences that have given her the opportunity to learn about the seagrasses in haryog diverse regions.
Material for this study was collected in three seagrass beds with different structure in Inner Ambon Bay, Eastern Indonesia. This study provided evidence that higher structural complexity of seagrass bed was related to the higher richness, abundance, and biomass of fish. The species descriptions are informed by the latest genetic evidence, a far better way to classify species and relatedness than leaf tip morphology or other arbitrary characteristics.
However, lower structural complexity of seagrass patch should not be underestimated because it provided different habitat for various stages of life in fish.
